2nd Grade Teacher
I attended Beaumont schools from elementary to high school, then moved my junior year and graduated from Orangefield High in 1979.
I earned my Bachelors in 1983 and my first Masters degree in 1986, both from Lamar University. My additinonal certifications were also from Lamar in Beaumont. Go, Big Red!
I have a Bachelors in Elementary Education, with Reading and Kindergarten endorsements.
My Masters in Education was for Curriculum Supervision with a concentration in Reading. I have additional certifications for Gifted and Talented and Principal.
In my many years in education I have attended the Conference for the Advancement of Mathematics Teaching five times. I was part of the Curriculum Writing team for math in my former district for fifteen years. I am currently working on my ESL certification.
I am excited to be a part of the Ehrhart family this year. This is my first year to teach 2nd grade and I am eager to see my students’ smiling faces.
I began teaching in 1983 at the middle school level in both 5th and 6th grade math. I moved to 3rd grade self-contained for the next six years, and then stayed at home to raise my first three children until my return to teaching in 1998. I taught self-contained 3rd grade for almost 20 years, with departmentalized math for 2 years, and the Gifted and Talented class for 3 years. I have served in an administrative role for the past 5 years at a local elementary as a Title 1 Curriculum Coordinator. I am looking forward to the challenge and joy of returning to the classroom.
I have been married to my husband, Wayne, since 1987, and we have four children. My oldest, Blake, just got married and he and his wife, Diana, live in Tyler. My second son, Shea, works at the mid-county Lowe’s, and is engaged to be married next year to his fiancee, Mae. My oldest daughter is a professor at Lamar University and is also engaged, to her fiance, Miguel. My youngest daughter, Allie, attends Lamar University and is majoring in Computer Science with a concentration in Game Design. We have 2 dogs and 2 cats that sometimes behave, and sometimes not.
As Matilda says in the Roald Dahl book, “I am a reader of books.” I also love music and working puzzles. When the pandemic is over, my husband and I want to travel again. Traveling to other places and exploring this big, beautiful world we live in is my favorite thing ever.
