5th Grade Reading/Language Arts Teacher
I am a graduate of South Park High School and Lamar University.
I hold a Bachelor of Science Degree in Secondary Education, with a major in Special Education, a minor in Psychology, a certification in Learning Disabilities, and an ESL Certification.
This year marks my 15th year as an educator, and my fifth year to teach at Ehrhart, where I teach 5th Grade Reading and Language Arts. In addition to teaching, I serve as Ehrhart’s Public Relations Specialist and English Department Chair.
Prior to coming to Ehrhart, I taught in the Beaumont Independent School District.
I am married to David Starnes, a local attorney, who recently served as President of the Jefferson County Bar Association. Together, we have three daughters, who are all honor graduates of West Brook High School. Our oldest daughter is a gradutate of the University of Houston, and works in the finance department of a global company in Nashville, Tennessee. Our middle daughter holds a bachelor’s degree from Baylor University, and a master’s degree from the University of Texas in Dallas, and works as a Speech Pathologist in Richardson ISD. Our youngest daughter holds a bachelor’s degree from Baylor University, and is currently attending the University of Texas at Arlington studying for her master’s degree in Social Work.
I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, shopping, exercising, and watching detective shows. More than anything, I love to sing! Since childhood, music has always been a huge part of my life, and at the age of fourteen, I began singing professionally. Over the years, I have been blessed to perform as a soloist for many church, civic, and private events in the area, including The Symphony of Southeast Texas Home for the Holidays Concert as a guest artist.
I’m an active member of Calvary Baptist Church, Jefferson County Bar Association, Sons & Daughters of Italy in America, and serve as a founding Board Member for the Italians of Southeast Texas.
