2021 STAAR

Congratulations to the 2020-2021 8th graders for their super effort on the 2021 Social Studies STAAR exam.  It was a tough year with so many interruptions like multiple hurricanes, COVID, and Winter Storms.  Through it all, the 2021 8th graders hung in there and were successful in all their endeavors.  So, here posted is my end of the bargain.  The motorcycle (Horseshoe) mustache.

The bargain was discussed and agreed upon about 3 days before the test.  The deal was 2 parts.  The first part was that if at least 76% scored approaches or above.  The second part was that 38% would master the test.  If the students reached both goals, I would grow the mustache and grow a mullet style haircut.  The students out performed my previous 6 years of 8th graders by a long shot.  89% scored at least approaches.  I had not ever had students as a whole 8th grade class make that score.  Well-done to them.  However, we fell short of the bargain that 38% would master.  But, that doesn’t matter, I was so impressed and pleased about the total score that I decided to meet them halfway and grow the mustache.  I grew the mustache as it would have taken a long time to grow the mullet and I didn’t want to hold off on posting that long.  It did take about 2 months to grow the mustache to a respectable length and today was the day.

Again, congratulations to the 2020-2021 8th graders on a job well done and whom I am well pleased with.  I hope your time in High School is fun and enjoyable and I expect that they will all be successful.

2018 STAAR Results

Congratulations to the 2017-2018 Ehrhart School 8th Grade class for its accomplishment on the 2018 Social Studies STAAR Exam taken in May.  76 % passed and 28% mastered the test.  They matched the 2017 class in percentage passed, but more importantly, they surpassed the 2017 class in number who mastered the test, with 5 mastering the test.  AWESOME!!!!

Our deal this year was that if we got 76% to pass and 6 to master, I would color my hair and beard red.  We reached our goal of 76%, but fell just short of the number to master.  However, I decided to go halfway and dye my beard read as the kids put in so much work.  CONGRATULATIONS class of 2018.  You were outstanding.

Social Studies STAAR Results

Great job to the 8th Graders on the Social Studies STAAR test taken in May 2017.  77% passed the test.  AWESOME!
